Holland Landscapers Awarded Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion VANCOUVER – Holland Landscapers has been awarded the sub-contract for hard and soft landscaping of the $800 – million Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion (VCCEP) by PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc.

Holland’s initial involvement in this project began in 2005, when it constructed test plots to simulate green roof conditions for the Convention Centre’s proposed 6 acre “living roof,” one of the largest of its kind in the world.

In March 2006, Holland was the successful proponent for a plant propagation contract to grow nearly 400,000 native plants and wild grasses, as well as supply indigenous seed and bulbs for the Convention Centre's living roof.

The roof system for the Convention Centre is being constructed by Flynn Canada. In a 2006 VCCEP tender, Holland partnered with Flynn Canada to provide the living portion of the roof, which includes drip irrigation, light weight growing medium, drainage runnels, plant material installation and landscape maintenance of the roof.

Holland Landscapers recent award by PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. is for exterior landscaping which encompasses a comprehensive scope of work featuring, a “living wall,” over 5 acres of precast paving stone, granite paving, architectural concrete paving, site furnishings, irrigation, soft landscaping and grounds maintenance.
